Insights into various plantations:

1. McLeod -possibly my favorite, slave focused and honors those who came without choice , shop, some off trail walking

2. Boone and McLeod both feature Gullah historians/singers/descendants

3. Middleton - manicured, not dog friendly but lovely pasture grazing livestock and a 1000 year old tree, incredible Revolutionary War time history as well as Civil war, house is furnished , loved Micheaux history and the Camellias, learned alot, fun garden and gift shops, fancy restaurant

4. Magnolia gardems- I went with Beau, incredible gardens, didn't visit zoo or house, huge grounds, Divine, easy walking, alligators, food available

5. Boone Hall - portions dog friendly , watch out for poisonous snakes falling out of trees, beautiful home, easy walking , restaurant and shop

6. Drayton - small grounds, 45 minute walking tour, recommend hiking shoes, house open but unfurrnished, alligators and snakes , gift shop, active conservation open for viewing
